Comments for Review: Gentoo 2007.0

Okay, so hating windows....i went an bought a Linux mag....which had gentoo 2007.0 in it....I naturally jumped right in...not reading any of the mag....I would say.....coming from the highlight days of commodore 64, atari, then to win 3.1...onto 95, then 98....2000 pro, xp.......the live cd boots well....took forever to get the partitioner to work, but after 5-6 tries it finally happened. Loaded it all, got to the bootloader....went to load that and it crashed. I gave it bout an hour....the rest of the setup took forever, so I gave it plenty of time...and nothing. I Loved the many many choices of apps there....and the way the system looks, nice graphics....but what a pain to install. I grabbed a ubunto book and disk from the library, and Im going with that till a resonable fix comes along!!

Gentoo is not for n00bs. If you understand it's conceptions, I think it is a great, very flexible linux. One can manage all the system from console easily. I think if someone does not understand gentoo, the graphical installer won't help. If you understand it, you won't need the graphical stuff. Gentoo is good to become from linux n00b to linux pro, I think it was one of my best decisions I have made to switch to gentoo.

WHAT A STUPID LINUX PROGRAM,..ITS SUPPOSED TO BE THE FLAGSHIP NO1 GENIUS DISTRO FOR ALL THE LINUX NERDS

YET IN 2008 THEY STILL CANNOT PROVIDE A DISTRO T INSTALL THAT USE'S A WIRELESS INTERNET CONNECTION

Gentoo is noticeably faster than Ubuntu

and who says Ubuntu is fast???

any rubbish nerd distro like gentoo that takes a week or more to compile programs is a complete and utter f*cking joke in the real world,..
it takes 7 days to cross the atlantic ocean on a ship,.. less than that to go to the moon

if your crap linux junk cannot install a FULL working distro in les tha 1 hour,..then take the garbage goontoo off the flaming shelves
