Oli,in your defense,I might be able to think you acted within reason to fire back by publicly showing a page as you have.
Getting banned because of what started out as just your opinion,is a lot of crap. They don't like you opinion,or hear what you have to say,so you get banned.NO.It don't work that way,and you have proved that FACT.
But,understand this.YOU started this mess with YOUR unfounded reports.
I believe your review was awful, you didn't research anything to it's fullest, and now YOU are complaining?
Do you think you can publish what may be interpreted as a intended lie, something obviously incorrect, and not raise a few hairs on the back of someones neck?
You know now that you were wrong, and you still don't care.
You published this article without any regret.
An email from Texstar is not what should of stopped this in its tracks.
You should of never even considered a article like this.
You are to blame,NOT Texstar.

No -- I cleaned up. I edited the review massively. I care about the accuracy of what I write so it was only fair to do that.

The comment from Texstar I published was well after the edit and well after I had posted in the thread it comes from (stating that I had edited). I don't care what was said before the edit - I take the blame for all of it.

You are to blame,NOT Texstar.
Really? Even if my review was everything he and others said, is that really the way to handle it?

This page is a protest against people who think power comes without a measure of responsibility or accountability. There are ways to handle things and this highlights the worst.

This isn't aimed at anybody specifically... Texstar has apologised through an anonymous comment and that's where we're at.

In the very page from the thread that you saved, prior to what Tex said, here is what you directed at another poster.
"That's the problem here... You don't think"
"You won't read it or, at least, understand it"

Those aren't the only comments you made either. No matter what the others threw at you, you were right there slinging it too, no better than the rest of them. That and previous posts and your original review destroyed most of your credibility. It's ok for you to say rude things, but boy if some other person says something watch out or I'll take full advantage of it and get my article. The people you were fighting with were regular users of a distro. You were the person that was supposed to be professional in writing you're review. If you can't take criticism as a reviewer without "fighting back", then why are you writing articles? And also somewhere you stated something along the line of if Tex would email me we would see about the future of this article. I don't know where that statement is or where it went, but you did say something along those lines, and I thought it was in this article. So make kissy kissy and this would all go away?? Why should he bother writing, you'd probably just twist something else around that he said and make yet another baseless article out of it.

"My crime? I mention Ubuntu"
Hardly, some blamed that for some reason, I don't understand why either, but your crime was your first "review", and your conduct afterwards".

There's a slight difference in attack vectors... I'm saying handing back personal insults for a review of a distro where there is nothing personal said is wrong...

Personal attacks for personal attacks are fair game. If people read your comment and think "omg Oli doesn't practice what he preaches", please read the full page and you'll see it in context. I think you'll see I was being extremely moderate.

anonymous why dont you show your name so people can actually tell who you are or are you afraid someone will recognise you? Oli edited his review after he got criticm its also interesting that this is not the first time i come across flaming from PCLOS users maybe you people should grow up? (observe im not saying ALL PCLOS users are immature just the flamers)
and dont even try to call me a 'buntu fan sure i've tried it but so far my face distro is vector linux

As to my identity, who cares, you wouldn't know me if I did put it here. I rarely interject myself, very rarely. I could put in any name, anyone could, maybe not everyone else is who they say they are. Oli may id me by the email address I use, it will always be the same one if I choose to post here. As to flaming, INCSlayer, could you explain exactly what you mean by that in what I said, seriously? Nothing I said wasn't the truth, by actions that Oli and the others have taken, previous articles, posts, etc., so how is the truth flaming anyone? I don't care if Oli criticizes PCLOS all he wants he had valid points, and his own opinions, as long as they are based on fact. Nothing has to do with his second review (which is not a bad review). This has to do with the first one, which started the problem. It was very erroneous, admittedly so, otherwise it would not have been heavily edited. And to Oli as far as reading the entire page, thanks I did. I also read the entire thread on that forum, as well as most of the posts here including the ones that you deleted, and your first review before edit. As an outside observer to this whole mess until now, I stand by what I say. As to calling INCSlayer a 'buntu fan, why would I? I don't care what distro you use, and have nothing against you at all, so if you choose to lump me in with others, so be it. I still have kubuntu on three of my machines, as well as Vector on one (a good distro indeed!). PCLOS is on my main one because it is faster on this machine, but as long as something works, who cares what another person uses, perhaps I should rephrase that, I DON'T CARE. I've had issues with every distro I've tried, none are perfect. I hang around many forums, because I choose to.

By the way Oli, good luck with Kittenauth, it is a unique idea and works nicely. Just because a person has an opinion about certain situations, that is no reason not to get along, correct?

Nothing has to do with his second review
That's not entirely true. Although I'm sure there were some people in the forum who missed my arrival (on the second page) and only read what was posted on the first page before posting but the incident here was well after I had corrected things and was involved in that thread.

The comments I'm talking about that people were throwing out were based on what I was saying post-edit.

I've already said that I understand people being pissed with the first revision and I take responsibility for it but you can't really carry that argument on (well you can -- but it doesn't mean I'll pay you any attention) once I've fixed the accuracy of things.

I took a massive amount of hatred from the first draft but I didn't slander or threaten every commenter who disagreed with it. I took the substance of what they said and looked at what I'd done. I just consider that to be the right way of dealing with these things...

gryphen: i don't believe Oli thinks of himself of an expert in either GUI's or Linux, merely an expert on what he likes out of both and hence an expert of his own opinion. Is that not what a review is? A personal opinion?
Born to make you happy

I'm so impressed with PCLinuxOS (and have been since first downloading and trying 093a "Big Daddy") that I find it hard to think anyone could find any fault with it at all. The countless hours Texstar and the Ripper gang spent giving us this polished and easy to use right out of the box distro fills me with gratitude and loyalty to the best Linux distro available (my opinion). I've tried the others and just found PCLinuxOS alone to do everything, as well as pick up on such essential things as my Wireless LAN right on the install instead of a lot of messing around, and never getting it working like on the other top rated distros out there, as well as finding it works great on all my PC's I've loaded it too as well as my old IBM T22 Thinkpad. What more could anyone ask for?
