maybe what ur saying about the ps3 is true, but look at the xbox360, look at all those problems they have, ps3 is way more reliable then a xbox 360 thats why its more expensive

Which problems? How is it more reliable?

Genuine questions there.

Fact is, PS3 is getting a few games that surpass the 360's pinnacle of games, GeOW, within its first year. Killzone 2, and UT3 even though the 360's been out longer. A PS3 first generation game surpassing all of the 360's. Let's not even talk about alot of your reasons being bullshit. A few for example: 104. MS reckon Sony's online gaming network is "busted", since when has Microsoft's biased opinion been a reason not to buy a PS3? The PSN surpasses XBL in ways and is dramatically catching up with the other features and let's not even talk about PSN being free and having more lag-free servers. 102. PS3 no better than a Xbox 360. Hm. That must be why most of the game sites have said they're finally seeing games that the 360 is not able to run. 95. PS1 games still don't work. 77% of the games are now compatible and is being updated regularly. I notice you don't write how the 360 is not fully backward-compatible either. </End rant>

Two reasons why MS fanboys shouldn't write things like this, or be allowed internet access for that matter.

Microsoft have far more problems than Sony... They also don't tell you about them until there are so many people complaining they can't silence them any longer.

0/10 for Oli for this MS Fanboy rant.

Oli just said on Page 3 that he's not an Xbox fanboy. He doesn't even own one.

-2/10 for Malphas for jumping to conclusions and flaming.
Cross me and be thagomized.

@ Stegosaurus

" Oli just said on Page 3 that he's not an Xbox fanboy "

Which page did I say that he was an Xbox fanboy ?

Check what I wrote... Check it again... Do you see the words "Xbox Fanboy" ?

"MS Fanboy" and XBox fanboy" are two totally different things.

The fact is Sony doesn't have to consider a total recall of all of its products because of serious design and production defects, MicroSoft has already had to consider that. Combine that with the fact that defective drives damage games and MS has stated that the games were damaged by the end user and it has no intention of replacing them and you have a pathetic product with pathetic customer and after sales support.

I own neither console and I don't intend to buy either of them... Therefore, I am impartial.

From what I have seen, heard and read on-line the PS3 is a better product all round than the XBox360.

Let's face it, when someone throws MS Vista down your throat and tells you new games can't run on XP while people are already hacking said games to work on XP to prove that said statement is just forcing people to buy on OS they don't actually need you, have to question anyones dedication to question the validity of that company in the marketplace. MicroSoft are so big because so many people bury their heads in the sand and accept what they are told, they are sheep... I am not.

-3.26517e+37/10 for Stegosaurus and sheep for the above reasons.

If you don't like mine, don't listen and don't comment. I don't like yours, it smells like fairy liquid with a dash of nanny state.

Regarding that second link from Malphus:
A Florida man has filed a $5 million federal class-action lawsuit against Microsoft this week, claiming the company is responsible for a defect in the Xbox 360 that scratches game discs and makes them unusable.

The suit claims that the Xbox 360 was "negligently designed and manufactured" in that the video-game console's laser disc reading assembly contacts and scratches discs. "The scratches to the game discs render them unreadable or otherwise inoperable," the suit says. Brouwer said the Xbox 360 he bought in November 2006 destroyed the Gears of War and Madden NFL '0" video-game discs he bought for $50 each.
So he lost $100 and he's filing for $5,000,000 in damages? What a nosebleed.

The difference between Sony and MS in this respect is how they're addressing problems. MS did have a little bit of 'no it's not a real problem' but they stood up and are actively putting things right.

Sony mired the whole release of the PS3 with shitty leaks and not coming forward to crush them. They let rumours breed right under their noses and did nothing to air some truth.

Almost every point in this list could have been avoided by stepping up to the mark and being clear about what they were doing, by supporting the early developers and helping them make games to cure the discontent.

My like or dislike of MS has nothing to do with this post. This post was born purely from my awe that one company could cock up so many PR things when they've been in this business for over 12 years.

"MS Fanboy" and XBox fanboy" are two totally different things.
Not really when you're talking in the context of gaming consoles.

I say "if you can't take the heat, unplug your NIC" The internet is not a place for bubble wrapped children who think everything is pink and fluffy, it's a place where voices can be heard.
And you're in my house now and therefore bound by my terms. Please try and stay nice =)

First off... I'm as nice as I choose to be, it's not my fault if people take my comments personally or take offence.

Secondly...
"MS Fanboy" and XBox fanboy" are two totally different things.
Not really when you're talking in the context of gaming consoles."

Yes they are, if I wanted to say XBox fanboy, I would have. Assumption is the mother of all f'ups and I didn't leave room for assumption in what I said. I called you an MS fanboy for a specific reason... I didn't say Fanboy, I didn't say Xbox fanboy, I said MS fanboy. You stated that getting a PC or Xbox would be a better option, therefore we are not limited just to the console context... Unless you were talking about a MAC or Linux OS for gaming?

" MS did have a little bit of 'no it's not a real problem' "

That is the understatement of the year if ever I heard it... That's like saying the U.K. currently has a little bit of a rainwater problem. MS categorically denied there was a problem with their console until the voices shouted about it could no longer be silenced.

If the people could have been swept under the carpet and they could have maintained their image in the marketplace as, to some at least, the provider of an excellent console with excellent after sales support... They would have.

They are actively doing something about the problem because they have to, not because they want to. If you research and read all of the articles about Xbox after sales support you should, unless you are blinkered and biased, come to the same conclusion as I have... They are terrible.

I'm not supporting Sony, I'm not even saying that your list of things is wrong, what I am saying is that you shouldn't support a company who's only interested in clawing as much cash as possible from Joe public. The attempted and rather long cover-up, despite you down playing the issue, of the problems with the 360 is a prime example, Vista is another example of forcing people to purchase something which they don't need to improve the state of their coffers... The articles on-line about games that "don't work, can't work" according to MS are interesting reading when you look a little deeper, I assure you.

I suppose, if you want me to, I could go and compile my own list of things which MS have screwed up over the years..? I could take in to account the various things they have screwed up, but I could also list all of the underhanded tactics they have used over the years to try and destroy the competition, not to mention intellectual property theft, and I am willing to bet you any sum of money I could come up with a list much, much, MUCH longer than yours.

A vanilla 360 isn't going to be able to compete with the vanilla PS3 forever, regardless of the fact that at the moment all of the 360s vanilla are laced with cyanide. The PS3 is technically superior to the 360, your comment on the games always looking and playing better on the 360 will be short lived. They might do now, though I have seen plenty of evidence to the contrary, but time will tell...

...Yes, time will tell...
