if the ps3 is 'supposed' to replace pc's, does that mean future PC's games will be developed on the ps3? if so,i'd rather have a much cheaper pc version of a game after its ported over from the ps3. hopefully i wouldn't have to spend nearly 1000$ on the pc version like i'd have to for the ps3 version =D

No the PS3 (because of the silly cell nonsense) is less like anything else than ever before. That's one of the key reasons so many people have been having such a hard time getting into the development for them.

Microsoft are cornering this area too with their DirectX platform. Developing for the 360 is practically as easy as developing for the PC. Porting is therefore so much easier.

There is a lot against Sony (asides from themselves). The demand is dropping off, nobody cares about the PS3. I think with another 6 months in development (eg extending the period 6-12 months ago) could have saved the PS3 but as it is, it's not going to sell in any serious numbers until it drops massive amounts in price OR something genuinely decent comes out for it that justifies spending *THAT* much.

Plus... Has anyone noticed that people that describe their in-store experience with a PS3 as "cool" say the only game they played was the NBA 07 game... The very same game that was scrapped... The game that will never be more than a demo. I don't think many people realise that when they're looking at it.

I don't think most people realize that project management isn't over when a console ships. Sony has been arrogant, thinking that they were invulnerable, and they have made all kinds of stupid mistakes these past few years. What on earth makes anyone think these mistakes won't continue to happen in the post-launch development of the console, in gaming partnerships (which they are losing), and so on.

PHFT, yeah the ps3 could have the best graphics, but games are to play not to comtemplate at, if u just want to see a perfect 3d model just go watch freakin' Happy Feet at the movies. I want to have fun and an xbox is the *most* i can pay for having fun. PS3's 600+50 tax (no game) 70 memory card, 65 game...That's crazy!! ...and there are still stupid people that think games are all about the graphics....poor ppl.

You hate the Wii because it's cheap?

The Wii is the only console offering something even remotely different. MS's 360 had set a new standard for console graphics which the PS3 has yet to improve upon. The PC will always hold the ultimate title there.

The problem with the included BR player that you mentioned before, matty, was that it's still a very untested medium. Sony are forcing people who want the PS3 to be "Operation Human Shield".

There's still a pretty hefty media war going on between HD-DVD and BR because they're not both going to make it out the other side.

Having to buy it means it might be a very expensive piece of crap in the not too distant future. Considering IPTV-style media distribution is likely to become the norm, even for HD content, locking yourself into one side of media-war where both sides look like they're going to lose, doesn't seem like a wise investment... To me anyway.

You've obviously got more money than sense, so I'll leave you alone with your dragons and your 15-year old controller technology.
